My reason for designing is deeply connected to finding confidence and happiness. I derive that confidence from the act of creating and building. My process begins with total immersion in a topic that sparks my interest. I explore its history, stories, culture and overall stimulus. This allows me to genuinely empathize and place myself within that world or situation. This journey of discovery is what makes me happy and fuels my curiosity.
The ultimate feeling of purpose and validation comes when I can use that deep understanding to contribute something new. Seeing people’s reactions to a design born from a fresh mindset and approach completes the cycle. So, to sum it up, I design to be happy and feel confident.
